1. Consider the difference: (notice that one is plural and the other singular)

The Spirit gives “gifts of the Spirit” in 1 Corinthians 12:1-11.

The Father gives the promise of the “gift of the Spirit” in Acts 2:38 (Acts 1:4).

  1. Is there a difference in “gifts of the Spirit” in 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 and “gifts” in Romans 12:3-8?

  1. Consider 1 Corinthians 12:4-6:

There are varieties of gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4, 8-10);

There are varieties of positions of administration – such as pastor, teacher, etc. (1 Corinthians 12:5, Ephesians 4:11);

And these gifts operate in a variety of ways (1 Corinthians 12:6);

As an example, consider the gift of tongues.

  1. As a private prayer language to edify the individual (1 Corinthians 14:14-15)

  1. In conjunction with the gift of interpretation to edify the church (1 Corinthians 14:5, 27-28)

  1. As a sign to the unbelievers (1 Corinthians 14:22, Acts 2:4-6) But all is God given; God orchestrated.

  1. Which gift, or gifts, of the Spirit do you see operating in each of these references?

A. (Acts 5:1-11)

B. (Acts 8:18-24)

C. (Romans 12:3)

D. (Matthew 22:15-22, John 7:32, 45-46)

E. (Acts 2:4-8, 1 Corinthians 14:2-4)

F. (1 Corinthians 14:27-28)

G. (Acts 28:8-9)

H. (Acts 2:14, 40-41, Acts 21:10-11)
