The Spirit gives “gifts of the Spirit” in 1 Corinthians 12:1-11.

The Father gives the promise of the “gift of the Spirit” in Acts 2:38 (Acts 1:4).

 

  1. Is there a difference in “gifts of the Spirit” in 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 and “gifts” in Romans 12:3-8?

 

 

  1. Consider 1 Corinthians 12:4-6:

 

 

There are varieties of gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4, 8-10);

 

 

There are varieties of positions of administration – such as pastor, teacher, etc. (1 Corinthians 12:5, Ephesians 4:11);

 

 

And these gifts operate in a variety of ways (1 Corinthians 12:6);

 

 

As an example, consider the gift of tongues.

  1. As a private prayer language to edify the individual (1 Corinthians 14:14-15)

 

  1. In conjunction with the gift of interpretation to edify the church (1 Corinthians 14:5, 27-28)

 

  1. As a sign to the unbelievers (1 Corinthians 14:22, Acts 2:4-6) But all is God given; God orchestrated.
